About the camp: Steppe Nomads tourist ger camp in serene Gun-Galuut Nature Reserve, just 2 hr drive from Ulaanbaatar on paved road. The camp is ideally located in the beautiful valley of the Kherlen river at the getaway to Gun-Galuut nature reserve - a perferct place for relaxing in wilderness, viewing wildlife and enjoying soft adventures such as horse riding, Mongolian archery and fishing.
Activities: At Steppe Nomads, you can view endangered wildlife from the back of a horse or camel, while kayaking on the Kherlen river or relaxing at the camp. You enjoy a peaceful night rest in one of our comfortable guest gers (traditional Mongolian dwelling) and our talented chef prepares your delicious and healthy meals from locally grown, organic products.
You also have an opportunity to visit local nomad families, share a cup of milky tea with them and learn about their customs and traditions. Steppe Nomads is the perfect choice for the traveler who wants to experience Mongolia's legendary hospitality and its wild natural beauty and combine sustainability with comfort.
Accommodation: Mongolian Ger Accommodation is most suitable traditional dwelling of Mongolian Nomads. But now Mongolian ger is main accommodation of the most tourist camps or tourist resorts of Mongolia.
This nomadic style wonderful camp features 24 new, roomy and comfortable Mongolian traditional ger accommodation each with 2-3 beds.
Each ger is heated by wood stove in the centre, and beds are big and comfortable with soft bedding sheets.
The camp's well trained friendly staff will do their best to ensure everything is in order for your most memorable stay in Mongolia.
Dining: Our Mongolian Ger shaped restaurant welcomes up to 200 guests at a time with organic and tasty Western, Asian and Mongolian cuisine. The ceiling-high-windows give diners a breath-taking view of the Kherlen River and the Great Mongolian steppes.
During the long, warm summer days we invite you to enjoy your meals on the terrace or sip a cool drink while watching the bird life around the camp.
Our talented chef Odno has more than 20 years culinary experience and she is proud to serve our guests meals prepared with fresh, organically grown vegetables from the on-site green house and meat and dairy products and eggs provided by the local nomads. Home-made bread is one of her specialties! Upon request, Odno prepares vegetarian dishes as well.
The Naadam festival is the biggest celebration of test of courage, strength, dexterity, and marksmanship of Mongol nomads. Naadam takes place on 11-12 July and features "Three Manly Sports": wrestling, horse racing and archery.
