We stayed with Steppe Nomads for 2 nights at the end of our Trans-Siberian journey. Wow! The scenery at Gun-Galuut is breathtaking. On our first evening, we went on a planned 1-hour horse trek with the local guide, Donduk. One hour turned in to four and my wife and I agreed that it was the most amazing experience of our trip, possibly ever!

The Gobi Desert might be the namecard of Mongolia after mighty Genghis Khan - this enormous desert stretches from today's Inner Mongolia to the Xinjiang province of China - the Mongols take pride in the Gobi Desert as this part is considered to be the most beautiful part of the Gobi desert.

The Naadam festival is the biggest celebration test of courage, strength, dexterity, and marksmanship of Mongol nomads. Naadam takes place on 11-12 July, and originates from Hun Empire as a competition among Mongolian Warriors at "Three Manly Sports": wrestling, horse racing and archery.
